Dr. Mark Herndon recently returned to his hometown of Greenville after completing his residency in General Surgery at Mercer University School of Medicine. Prior to entering medical school at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Dr. Herndon was a commissioned officer in the USAF. While in the Air Force, he was an instructor navigator aboard B-52H bombers.
As a physician and surgeon, Dr. Herndon is especially interested in breast surgery, treating the various diseases associated with the breast. He also enjoys the wide range of surgical interventions that improve the health and overall quality of life for his patients.
Dr. Herndon’s special interests also include thyroid and gastric diseases, of which he has published articles on each, as well as gastrointestinal, hernia, and gallbladder surgery. He also performs colon resections and upper and lower endoscopic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
He is a member of the American College of Surgeons and is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.
